St. Valentine's Day
 

Valentine's Day is a celebration of love and lovers. It is said that the roots of Valentine's Day go back to ancient times, when people paid honor to the Roman God of Fertility. This was known as the Feast of Lupercalia, and was celebrated even then on February 14th.

Many are the traditions of this special day. A time to exchange cards or gifts ( think flowers and chocolates) . A romantic dinner with a loved one. A fun event for kids and family. A good time to announce an engagement, or wedding date. For many others, a day to fall maddeningly in love.

February 14th was formerly thought to be the first day of bird's mating for the season. This sparked the custom of sending valentines to each other.
